Board Vacancy - Appointed Veterinarian

The term of office for one of the appointed veterinarian positions on the Board expires on 31
December 2026. All registered veterinarians are invited to nominate for the vacant appointed veterinarian position commencing 1 January 2027.

This is an opportunity for an experienced veterinarian to contribute to the regulation and future direction of the veterinary profession in Western Australia. The Board is seeking applicants with substantial experience in mixed or large animal practice, along with strong communication, leadership and decision-making skills, who are committed to maintaining professional veterinary standards in WA.

If you would like to be considered for the appointed position you must submit an Expression of Interest which includes:
  • a two-page (maximum) curriculum vitae (CV) and
  • a two-page (maximum) synopsis of the applicant’s skills and experience in relation to the selection criteria.
The CV must include your:
  • full name
  • contact details (postal address, telephone number, email address)
  • current employer and position or employment status
  • relevant working history
  • qualifications/training
  • other committee/board experience (list all current positions)
  • current contact details of two referees.
Selection criteria:
  • Registration in WA as a veterinarian
  • Substantial experience working in mixed or large animal practice
  • Personal attributes including leadership qualities, communication skills, and independent judgement
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and apply sound decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively engage and constructively communicate with stakeholders
  • Knowledge of the relevant legislation, and functions and responsibilities of the Board, or the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge
  • Ability and willingness to commit adequate time to the Board and actively contribute to its business including adhering to confidentiality and code of conduct policies and
  • The person’s principal place of residence must be in Western Australia.
